Operations Director, Architecture

The Operations Director contributes to the leadership of the Architectural Studio and the Management Leadership of the firm as a whole.  Contribute to the implementation of firm-wide strategic goals.  And, through the management and execution of the work, nurture a firm reputation for excellence with our clients, within the industry, and within the profession.  This individual’s directly report is J.P. Spickler, Principal, responsible for leading the Architecture Studio.  Their relationship with the Principals of the firm should be collaborative, symbiotic and base upon mutual respect.




  • General Studio Leadership of Operational and Project Management Process and Products
  • Participate in the Leadership of Strategic Direction
  • Participate in Marketing and Business Development
    • Participation in Interviews
    • Generation of Fee and Schedule for Proposals
  • Identify, Evaluate, and Integrate Advances in the Industry, i.e.:
    • Technological Advances
    • Process and Management Technologies
  • Provide Council to Senior Colleagues and Partnership on Broader Studio Issues and Goals
  • Participation in Staff Attraction, Retention, and Hiring
  • Encourage Personal and Professional Growth through Mentoring

  • Provide Project Management Leadership and Nurture the Firm’s Reputation for Excellence within the Industry

  • Document Quality (QA / QC Program), Project Staffing and Schedule. 
  • Communication and Negotiation of Contracts with Client

  • Awareness of the Coordination with Design Disciplines
  • Contribute to the Management of Staff, Product and Deliverables
  • Be knowledgeable of and react to fiscal performance [fee, schedule, project budget] from the Project’s PM




  • Graduated from an accredited architecture program.
  • Licensed architect.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in architecture with an emphasis on operations oversight of multi-functional and disciplinary teams on large scale commercial and/or institutional projects.
  • Proficient in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite and Deltek Vision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal leadership and team building experience that motivates and inspires others.
  • Knowledge of current laws, codes and titles in relation to construction.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff while inspiring others to be better.
